We are intralogistics. We represent 240 German and European member companies in the fields of Automated Guided Vehicles, Industrial Trucks, Cranes, Intralogistic systems and Continuous Conveyors. We support our members in all matters to enable them to facilitate material flow, warehousing and production supply for their customers worldwide. We are the link to Industry 4.0. We create future.
ISO 9001 requires companies to evaluate and select their suppliers on the basis of their capabilities. Because good suppliers increase deliverability and quality. But what is the best way to evaluate suppliers and how can supplier management be systematically controlled in quality management?
Dubai is one of the most important logistics hubs in the Middle East. This is not the only reason why Materials Handling Middle East shows the latest trends and solutions in intralogistics, conveyor technology and material flow here every two years.
The auction marathon at 5G is over. Now the implementation can begin. A few weeks ago, Deutsche Telekom AG hosted the "hubraum 5G Ecosystem Summit", at which 18 companies from 9 countries were able to prototype their 5G ideas. One of these companies was E&K AUTOMATION GmbH from Rosengarten. Jan Drömer, CIO at E&K AUTOMATION GmbH, explained to us how the project came about and what opportunities E&K expects from the new mobile radio standard for itself and for the industry.
"Blockchain Technology in the Supply Chain" is the title of the book recently published by Dr. Johannes Hinckeldeyn, Senior Engineer at the Institute for Technical Logistics at the Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH), at Springer Vieweg. Already two years ago we talked to him about the topic, which was very hyped at that time – a good reason to ask again to how blockchain technology has developed since then.
The market for commercial applications of drones is growing. Especially in logistics and industry flying robots offer many application possibilities. VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics Trade Association and Deutsche Messe AG are therefore jointly bringing drones to HANNOVER MESSE 2020.
Who will win the Intralogistics Oscar 2020? The application portal on www.ifoy.org is open until October 30, 2019 +++ NEW: Special vehicles such as cargobikes and drones can compete for the first time +++ NEW: "IFOY meets Business": IFOY opens TEST DAYS for logistics decision-makers
A current project of the Technical University of Darmstadt, Department of Production and Supply Chain Management together with the RWTH Aachen, Deutsche Post Chair for Optimization of Distribution Networks, shows which exciting topics the IFL research community is dealing with. Dr. Eric Grosse and Marc Füchtenhans from Darmstadt Technical University have revealed to us what the title "Potential benefits of intelligent lighting systems for warehouse management using the example of order picking" means.
The Technology and Start-up Centre in Würzburg was the perfect setting for the 1st Drone-MEET-Up of Emqopter GmbH. In addition to workshops, the lecture programme dealt with technical basics and economic usecases of drones. For us, three presentations were particularly interesting - two with a clear logistics connection and one on the new EU drone regulations (that's really exciting!).
5G was one of the highlights at HANNOVER MESSE. The industry's expectations of the new communication standard are high. We asked Ansgar Bergmann, Project Manager for Data and Networking in Technology and Innovation at KION GROUP AG, what concrete opportunities 5G offers for intralogistics.
Cargometer, Jungheinrich, ProGlove, The Raymond Corporation, Still and UniCarriers Europe win IFOY AWARDS in six categories +++ Glamorous IFOY AWARD Night with more than 600 guests in the Vienna Hofburg
The facts: by 2050, 66 percent of the world's population will live in cities. That's more than 6 billion people. At the same time, 80 percent of the world's arable land is already in agricultural use. This means that the possibilities are almost exhausted. How can the inhabitants of the future megacities be supplied? One idea is urban farming, i.e. the production of food in the city.
Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are currently experiencing a hype. More sophisticated technologies and components are making this possible. The usability of such systems depends largely on their navigation. We have talked with Kai Pfeiffer, group leader at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA).
The application phase for the IFOY AWARD is now entering the home straight: Intralogistics specialists have until 30 October to apply with their new publications. We talked to the chairman of the jury, Anita Würmser, about what is important in an application.
Once a year, the Association asks its member companies about their Industrie 4.0 level. The aim is to find out to what extent connectivity and digitisation are already anchored in the companies' products and production processes.
We discussed the current results with Professor Dr.-Ing. Johannes Fottner from the Chair for Materials Handling, Material Flow, Logistics (fml) at the Technical University of Munich.
Internet of Things, Digital Twin, Predictive Maintenance – just three buzzwords currently to be found in the Industrie 4.0 context that stand for a high level of connectivity. The gap that is left when M2M communication is not possible or profitable with classic cellular networks, DSL, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth could now be closed with a new wireless solution called Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT). We discussed the possibilities of NB-IoT in an interview with Dominik Schnieders, Program Manager NB-IoT at Deutsche Telekom, one of the providers for NB-IoT.
For the first time in the history of CeMAT in China, the trade fair occupied all five halls of the W-wing of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in Shanghai. Around 60,000 square metres of exhibition space, 619 exhibitors from 21 countries and more than 98,700 visitors on the four days of the fair, are the results presented by CeMAT ASIA after closing its doors.
Modern high performance fibres ropes (HPFR) offer very attractive technical properties for mobile cranes, however, there are some points crane operators need to consider when switching from wire to fibre ropes. The newly published FEM guideline is the first guidance document to extensively cover the design and safe use of HPFR on mobile cranes, including also the running rope on multilayer drums for hoisting purposes.
The Fraunhofer-Institut für Materialfluss und Logistik IML announced this year's "Zukunftskongress Logistik – 35. Dortmunder Gespräche" under the motto of "Social Networked Industry – Humans and Machines are partners in Logistics 4.0". The idea behind this is that man and machine will in the future work together, share information, and communicate with each other in networks. Therefore, the focus of the future plenum on the first day of the congress was on blockchain, service provision and technology.
Publication of the FEM guideline “Energy Consumption – Calculation and Measurement Methods of Material Handling Equipment and Intralogistics Systems” and presentation of results at the General Assembly of the FEM product group Intralogistic Systems on 5 October 2017 in Brussels.
Blockchains are currently one of the topics said to have great potential for changing the whole supply chain. We spoke about possibilities and limits with Dr. Johannes Hinckeldeyn, senior engineer at the Institute for Technical Logistics at the Technical University of Hamburg. He is mainly involved with IT aspects of logistics, such as simulation, software engineering and IT security. Blockchains are a trend and key technology at the focus of research activities. Among others, his work looks at devising smart contracts with Ethereum and at the development of decentralised apps.
"International Forklift Truck of the Year" becomes "International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year" Award +++ Applications start September 1 with new categories +++ New IFOY seal "Best in Intralogistics".
