Companion Specification for Asset Management, Condition Monitoring and Preventive Maintenance in progress +++ Cooperation with the European Materials Handling Federation (FEM)

In order to enable machine-to-machine communication in the future, it is also of great importance for the suppliers of cranes and hoisting equipment to standardize communication interfaces. With the establishment of an OPC UA working group, the members of the Cranes and Hoists Department of the VDMA Association for Materials Handling and Intralogistics have taken an important step in this direction. The aim is to enable universal communication between cranes and external communication partners such as MES, ERP or Cloud.

In cooperation with the European Materials Handling Federation (FEM), the member companies are now working on an OPC UA Companion Specification for a standardized information model for all machine-related data, regardless of manufacturer and location. In a first step, the working group develops a companion specification for the use cases Asset Management, Condition Monitoring and Preventive Maintenance.

Members of the working group:

  • Danfoss Power Solutions
  • DEMAG Cranes & Components
  • GH Cranes & Components
  • IED S.L.
  • ifak Magdeburg
  • Konecranes
  • Kuli Hoists
  • Steel CraneSystems GmbH
